The desk parts have been stained and are ready for some poly. It doesn't really come across in this photo but the wood is particle board with an ebony stain. The lighter particles show through the stain. It looks pretty cool. I'll post a close-up photo soon.
Here's an artsy shot of my most recent recording setup. Two of my favorite cymbals, a 10" and a 12" Sabian Glennie's Garbage, named after one of my personal heroes, the great Evelyn Glennie, are right above my rack toms. Betwixt them lies a 10" Zildjian Efx #1 which are getting harder and harder to find.
I sure made a mess, as you can see by the line of sawdust on the floor where the garage door was. This is the result of adding 1/2" roundovers to the base and top of my new recording studio desk. For some stupid reason, I didn't use a dust collector while doing this.
I made a metric crap-ton of sawdust today but the desk base and top are ready to be finished and assembled.
I've got the desk base glued together. Next step is to clean it all up and put some roundovers on the corners. Then it'll be ready to stain and finish before adding the hardware from Steel-Tek
I've begun construction on my next computer desk. It'll be a lot like my old one but simplified and smaller, just like my brain. This is the desktop that I'm glueing up in this photo.
